GMS begins distribution of Magiclee® products.

The well established Magiclée® brand of canvas and fine art paper from Intelicoat USA has been added to our existing range of canvas products.

Magiclee® Torino 17M and 20M canvas products will be available from December 2010. Existing customers of this high quality range will cease to suffer constrained availability.

The Magiclée® product range is US made and one of the original and popular canvas products amongst high end print makers. Intelicoat and its partner - Legion Paper USA, the maker of Moab digital papers - has moved to secure Australian distribution of its products by electing Giclée Media Supplies as sole Australian wholesale distributor.

Magiclee® Torino 17M, as distributed by GMS, will be an upgraded product of 15 metres in length and continues to feature the existing and distinctive 1:1 or square weave. This weave pattern differentiates the product from our existing volume selling cotton/polyester blends being InkjetPro Premium Edition and Moab’s Anasazi, which are 2:1 weaves.

Existing Magiclée® Torino 17M users are in for a pleasant surprise. The list price of the product will be identical per square metre to our other high quality brands and qualify for the high volume loyalty rebate system.

GMS also announces the availability of the very attractive Magiclée® Torino 20M 100% cotton canvas in December 2010 and Arches by Magiclée® Verona 285T textured Art paper in October 2010.

Magiclee® Torino 17M and 20M are time tested in the Australian market and both accept over coating with InkjetPro Aquathane UV and InkjetPro GicleeShield II liquid protective coatings. Torino 17M is of note because it has an existing fade test result when laminated from the Wilhelm Institute of over 100 years. It joins InkjetPro Premium Edition, which has a similar certification from the Image Permanence Institute USA.

So existing users of these Magiclee® products can maintain limited editions and existing profiles rather than switching to other brands. GMS is accepting orders immediately for these or any of the other Intelicoat products.

Announcing the worlds highest resolution DSLR – Pentacon 7000S.

Photokina 2010 saw the worldwide announcement of the highest resolving DSLR camera known.

Pentacon GMBH of Germany, now a division of the famous Jos Schneider lens manufacturer has introduced the Pentacon 7000S.

The new machine, the 7000S, features a native resolution of 20,000 by 20,000 pixels. As this is a scan DSLR, each pixel resolves all three primary colours for a total resolution of 1.2Gp. The machine scans directly to TIFF files and does not undergo any form of RAW conversion.

For wide format print users, this machines sensor is made to have sufficient resolution to reproduce an original on the full 64 inch width of the Epson 11880 printer in a single scan. Like the Pentacon 6000S, which is not being discontinued, the Pentacon 7000S is of compact dimensions and weighs a mere 1.2kgs.

It is notable that this diminutive machine with its 40mm by 40mm sensor area eclipses the native resolution of such scan backs as the Anagramm David (14400 by 17400 pixel), the Betterlight 10K-HS (10,200 by 13,600 pixel) and the Cruse CS 130/275 (8,000 by 12,000 Pixels) .

The medium format sensor area reduces the units overall size to make it easier to use, less expensive and easier to focus to the increased depth of field. The smaller sensor size also aids in lens choice, field flatness and outright resolution.

The Pentacon 7000S will continue to be supplied with Schneider Componon APO HM lenses and LaserSofts Silverfast Archive Suite. Upgraded lenses and full native 64 bit versions of the software are expected to become available during 2011 to fully exploit the new sensors potential.

GMS supplied Pentacon 7000S have been modified by the complete removal of all internal IR and UV blocking filters so the sensors resolve a larger colour spectrum. The machines are supplied with hand tested optically flat polished filters to better match the colour response of the human eye.

GMS stocks a full range of lighting and heavy-duty studio stands for the Pentacon 7000S.

The Pentacon 7000S is the only known DSLR solution for art copy onto 60 inch printers in a single image.

InkjetPro Professional Photo Barite Paper 325– save money while improving image quality.

GMS is introducing InkjetPro Professional Photo Barite to give the wide format printer a more cost effective alternative in the growing Sodium barite market.

Those of us that remember hand developing paper prints under a red safelight might also remember the distinctive smell and look of sodium barite, the thin clay like layer that coated almost all fibre based black and white papers.

Inkjet makers mimicked this look and today there are many papers that are coated with this same material. The paper is most popular with photographic teaching colleges, Universities, Schools and black and white photographers that have migrated to the digital world.

InkjetPro Professional Barite is a European made Sodium barite coated archival alpha cellulose paper with a high white point and smooth coating. It has an almost identical look and feel to fibre-based papers of the 1970's.

InkjetPro Professional Photo Barite has a bright white pearl, glossy surface and is targeted at providing or exceeding all the qualities of existing brands at a far lower price. It has a higher white point than many others resulting in a longer tonal range and a 15 metre roll length so less is lost at the roll ends. The paper is a substantial 325gsm and a high semi gloss. The surface is equal in strength to the strongest available and shows far less flaking than some other European made brands.

Sodium barite papers should not be used in place of archival resin paper stock such as Moab Lasal as barites are more easily damaged.

If you are a current user of Inkjet Sodium barite papers and feel there must be a better financial deal available that doesn't compromise quality, then InkjetPro Professional Photo Barite is the solution. Give your wallet a pleasant surprise!

InkjetPro Professional Photo Barite is available in 17,24 and 44 inch rolls of 15 metres in length.

Two Premium Packages:
Canon Digital SLR Camera with Wide Format Printer .

Canon imagePROGRAF iPF8300 + Canon EOS 5D MARKII Premium Kit (with EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM Lens)

The Canon ImagePROGRAF 8300 is the world’s finest inkjet printer and at over a metre in printing width needs a full frame camera and the best lenses to do it justice.

GMS is responding to customer demand by packaging the world’s best selling full frame camera with the best wide format printer available. Packaged with the ever useful Canon 24-105mm F4 Image Stabilised lens this is the “Swiss Army” pocket knife of photography and is made available at a substantially less expensive price than the individual components,

The GMS Canon iPF8300 and 5DII Premium Kit Offer is exclusive to GMS and features full Canon Australia warranties for both components. There is a finite stock availability of the package.

Canon 6350 and 7D Premium Kit Combination - The TIPA Award Winning Twins

Canon imagePROGRAF iPF6350 + Canon EOS 7D Super Kit (with EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS)

For those photographers not requiring the 44 inch carriage width of the Canon iPF8300, the Canon iPF6350 is available combined with the Canon 7D Camera and EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS (Image Stabilizer) lens.

The Canon iPF6350 is like its wider brother, of the Canon iPF8300, in that it has an inbuilt computer and hard disk to buffer and store the print stream and the wide gamut/ high gloss Lucia EX inkset.

The Canon iPF6350 won the industry's TIPA award in 2010 for Best Large Format Printer in 2010.

Anybody who sees the immense color gamut and speed of this little gem wouldn't deny that is by far the best wide format device on planet earth today.

When combined with high gloss media, such as Inkjetpro Glossy Film, the iPF 6350 produces panorama images that have such a high gamut that we do not know of any pigment devices that renders colors so brightly while extending shadow detail beyond any other device tested. The extended color gamut is especially noticeable when printing traditional matt media such as Japaness art paper that has been a challenge for previous pigment machines.

The iPF6350 is therefore a very flexible allrounder and at GMS we have noted that its ink usage is often more than 10% better than previous Canon models which in turn were very often up to 20-50% better than other brands.

Put simply, this machine is an ink miser and that translates into a smaller size and lower running cost than other 11 or 12 color machines that require larger tanks.

The Canon 7D camera is well matched to the iPF 6350 in being the best all round performing APS-C sensored SLR on the market and also winning the TIPA award for “Best DSLR Expert in 2010”

Shooting at 7 frames per second with a full single lens reflex viewing system, this machine is often preferred over the full frame Canon 5D and Canon 1 Series DSLR's because of its lower weight. Many owners of these larger cameras also keep a Canon 7D as a backup or a sports camera when extra telephoto reach is required.

GMS has packaged these two machines in a single offer and together they are far less expensive than buying the machines separately, even if you consider purchasing the camera kit from a backyard parallel import organisation. Both the Canon printer and Canon 7D Premium kit come with Canon's Australia wide warranty.
